Rachel Butler

DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ACHPN

Rachel Butler, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ACHPN is a board-certified family nurse practitioner from
Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, a graduate
degree from Georgetown University, and her doctorate in nursing from the University of
Connecticut. Passionate about patient care, Rachel has been a provider for over 15 years and
has practiced overseas and within several states, providing care in the fields of plastic and
reconstructive surgery, primary care, overseas embassy medicine, and palliative care. Rachel is
certified as an advanced practice provider for hospice and palliative care. As a palliative care
clinician, Rachel aims to empower her patients to maintain their autonomy, dignity, and
comfort during some of their most difficult moments in life. While she shares this passion with
all her patients, she finds that helping to educate providers about caring for patients of color
and providing this care to marginalized populations is especially energizing. She is currently a
primary care provider and Assistant Program Director of the Home-Based Primary Care division
within the Department of Veterans Affairs in central Virginia. When she is not working, she
serves as a founding board member for a local non-profit with a mission to improve end-of-life
resources in her community and with the goal of opening her region’s first social model hospice
house.
