DNPs of Color Hosts 2nd Annual Hybrid Conference October 21-23, 2022
Dr. Vernell DeWitty to Deliver Keynote
BALTIMORE, MD (September 23, 2022) – DNPs of Color (DOCs) will be hosting its 2nd annual hybrid conference October 21-23, 2022 at the Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD. The theme is DNPs of Color: Changing the Game and Forging New Paths. “This theme speaks to the fact we can no longer accept the status quo-we have to make change and sustainable action toward diversifying the nursing workforce and advancing health equity” said Dr. Danielle McCamey, Founder, President, and CEO of DOCs.
DNPs of Color keynote address will be delivered by Vernell DeWitty, PhD, MBA, RN. Dr. DeWitty is a transformational leader with a unique vision for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for the nursing profession. She served as the inaugural Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) where she advised the nation’s top academic nursing leaders on building consensus around a strategic approach to diversity and inclusion. She is now Senior Consultant for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for AACN and the CEO of Pourquois Diversity Consulting, LLC. Her distinguished career encompasses leadership roles in nursing education, practice, healthcare administration. Dr. DeWitty has an unwavering passion for improving the health of vulnerable populations as reflected in her work to achieve health equity, increase access to care, and advance workforce diversity.

The hybrid conference will feature content from the top experts in nursing, leadership and beyond that will include virtual posters, plenary and mini podium presentations on scholarship, antiracism, leadership, and clinical practice. It will also include the 1st annual Masquerade Scholarship & Award Gala with special presentation of 2020 Year of the Nurse by Tray Chaney & Robyn Roots. DOCs will be giving back to the community-hosting a zoom fundraiser for a local nonprofit: It Take Two, whose mission is to enhance the educational experiences for young people from single parent households by awarding scholarships to address a variety of basic as well as expansive educational needs.
