Dear Colleagues and Community Members,

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses—a milestone that calls for both celebration and recommitment. As DNPs of Color , we are uniquely positioned to understand how ethical practice intersects with advocacy, equity, and justice. Today, I am proud to announce our #CHECKTHECODE campaign, a call to action for all nurses to reconnect with the ethical foundations of our profession.

The Code of Ethics has been our compass for 75 years, guiding our decisions, actions, and interactions in service to our patients and communities. Now is the time, more than ever, to reaffirm our commitment to these principles. The Code has been newly revised, making it even more powerful and relevant to address the challenges of today‘s healthcare landscape and guide us through unprecedented times.

Throughout Nurses Month, we will highlight each provision of the Code of Ethics across our platforms, unpacking their meaning and application through the lens of DNPs of color. We hope you will join us in this journey of rediscovery and recommitment—whether by reading the provisions, downloading the resources from our website, or purchasing the complete book for deeper study.

In a world where healthcare inequities persist and ethical dilemmas grow increasingly complex, our adherence to these shared principles unites us and strengthens our collective voice. When we #CHECKTHECODE, we reconnect with our professional identity and reaffirm our commitment to the highest standards of nursing practice.

I invite each of you to join this campaign. Share your reflections, participate in our discussions, and demonstrate how you incorporate these ethical principles into your daily practice. Together, let us honor this significant anniversary by ensuring that the Code of Ethics continues to guide our profession for the next 75 years and beyond.

With respect and solidarity,
